Preliminary Cardinals Spring Training Broadcast Schedule

Note: On Friday, January 31, the Cardinals announced their spring schedule. In its associated table, I included all of the Cardinals’ opponents’ television and radio plans, as well. So please access that updated article for the most current information – instead of this one. (Just click on the box below to be taken there.)

Cardinals Announce 2019 Spring Training TV and Radio Schedule

One of my self-assigned and enjoyable tasks each spring is to scan the broadcast schedules of the St. Louis Cardinals’ spring training opponents to create something that is not available in one place anywhere else.

What follows is a list of all known Cardinals spring television games, whether the broadcast originates from the Cardinals side, from their opponents or via a national network. After all, if you are like me, following the long winter, you have a thirst to watch any St. Louis Cardinals action, no matter who is at the mike.

I am out ahead of the game this year, as the Cardinals’ spring television schedule has not yet been jointly announced by the team and FOX Sports Midwest. Yet, since we are inside of one month until the opener, it is time to get preliminary information out there.

KMOX Radio has disclosed its slate of 22 games from Florida – all of which will also be available via MLB.com – plus a number of St. Louis’ spring opponents’ television and radio schedules are known.

Specifically, across the Marlins, Tigers, Nationals, Braves and Yankees, we already know that nine Cardinals games will be televised. This includes a half-dozen of shared feed games between FOX Sports Midwest and other FOX Sports regional sports networks plus three unique telecasts. The latter include one against the Bronx Bombers on the YES Network, on March 6 from Tampa, and two Nationals’ tilts on MASN, on the 16th and 23rd of March.

Of course, this list will be updated – probably doubling the number of TV games – once FSM as well as the Mets and Phillies disclose their Florida plans.

As a point of reference, FOX Sports Midwest, the television home of the Cardinals, covered 15 Grapefruit League games in 2018 – roughly half of the schedule – so there is still plenty more to come. They made their announcement last spring on February 1.

ESPN’s early spring schedule does not include any St. Louis games. MLB Network will also add contests, but generally, they are team feeds, often telecast on a delayed basis.

Yet, even at this early point, only four of the 31 Cardinals spring training games have no planned television or radio coverage.

Keep an eye on this page as I will keep it updated as more information becomes available.
