Week No. 8 was the best to date for the 2018 short-season Class-A State College Spikes. The club finished with a 5-2 record, with all five wins by one run. The Spikes are for third in the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division standings with an overall record of 24-30. The club currently sits nine games back from the first place Mahoning Valley Scrappers, who have a 32-20 record. Justin Toerner and Stanley led the way at the plate, with Diego Cordero and Kevin Hamann emerging as top pitchers.
