Chacin has hit four Cardinal batters, and almost got Weaver up near the head. Wonder if there will be any retaliation by Weaver in the next inning or two?

FWIW, I hate to see that. He will miss 2018 but hopefully when he returns to the mound in 2019 he may have better command of his pitches.

Just wondering, how does this affect his contract situation?

Reds bullpen is terrible tonight too. Reds lead 6-3 in the 7th and now trail 13-6 in the 9th.

The Cardinals rightfielder in 2018 just hit his 46th homerun of the year in the first game of a DH in Philadelphia earlier today.

So……is there any word on Rosenthal’s injury? Wasn’t he flying to California to get a 2nd opinion? Anybody have any scoop here?

True bccran. My whole point. When he’s on, he’s very good. Just major inconsistency on his part.

I guess its time to let this thread fizzle.

Dodgers just hit the Pirates with a 5 run 7th to take a 5-3 lead. Granderson a grand slam the big blow.

So, Forsch31 old buddy, are you saying that when Rosenthal is healthy he pitches great? And that he only pitches bad when he is injured?

If that’s the case he must have major recurring injuries on a regular basis. Then he must recover from these injuries on a regular basis. Then a few days later he suffers more injuries, and then he recovers from them. That has to be the way things are as inconsistent as he is.

Maybe the next time he pitches we should see if he is injured first to avoid another one of his many bad outings.

    Thanks forsch31, you’re a good man buddy..:)

I guess it just goes to show you what a difference it can be between AAA and the big leagues. I hope he can keep his hot hitting going through the end of the year.

“Onyxgem wrote……’Easy he has been great in, 14,15 and 17…he has been a great pitcher for us this year.'”

    Great in 2014?????

I guess you didn’t watch the same Cardinal team in 2014 like I did. Granted he got 45 saves but he came within a whisker of blowing a TON of them. Am I the only one that remembers how many games he almost blew???

However, he has not almost blown “millions” like Rat believes
    ——————————————————————————–

Oh yes he has Forsch. Oh yes he has. You are flat out wrong here. He has come oh so close to blowing saves many times. I’ve watched them with my own eyes many, many times over the last 3-4 years.

    Can you say 2014???

Heyward is now hit by a pitch. Cubs with bases loaded and one out and Avila up.

Avila singles and the Cubs win 6-5.

    Unbelievable………

BlueJays about to blow it against the Cubs. 5-3 Toronto in the bottom of the 10th. Schwarber strikes out but reaches on a WP and then Zobrist singles. 1st and 3rd, nobody out, Rizzo up.

Schwarber scores on another WP, now 5-4, nobody out, Rizzo up with Zobrist on 2nd.

Rizzo grounds to 2nd for the 1st out, Zobrist now at 3rd with one out. Still 5-4 Toronto.

And now Baez strikes out on a ball in the dirt but Toronto doesn’t throw to first. Now 1st and 3rd, still one out. How many outs are the BlueJays going to give the Cubs?????

Lucas was hit hard in his MLB debut.

Do we have any – ANY – relievers that are even remotely reliable???

Martinez, along with all of his antics, needs to be on top of his game tonight to keep from losing ground. Cubs have a 7-4 lead in the last of the 8th at Wrigley against Toronto.

And Rosenthal has almost blown a million other saves. He’s escaped by a whisker a million times. Stats don’t tell the entire story here in any way, shape, or form.

BEST RELIEVERS THE CARDINALS HAVE EVER HAD???

    YGTBSM???

A million times he has come in and been totally ineffective. At times he’s gotten the job done by a whisker and at times he’s blown it for us. No consistency at all. Nobody, if looking at the complete picture, can deny that he’s an accident waiting to happen.

Reds win 13-10. Chance to gain a game for the Cardinals and the Brewers, and the Pirates.

I honestly hope he’s okay. Nobody wants to see anybody injured.

But, having said that, we have two relievers that should only be in the game if we are ahead or behind by the score of 10-1 in the 8th.

I saw that Pads. I wondered if the Cubs would make it back. Its now 12-10 Reds in the top of the 8th. C’mon Redlegs, pull this one out!

    Onyxgem,
You must be a newbie to Cardinal baseball. Unless you are one of the old posters that’s returned with a new ID. Anyway, I’ve said the same thing about Molina and Rosenthal for years. And you probably need to pay a little more attention to what CardsRedSox4Ever told you above.

I agree 14NyquisT. See my earlier post about Molina not being able to catch throws to home anymore. That throw last night, a good high school catcher could have caught it and made the tag.

I hate to say it, but I have ALWAYS thought Molina has been over-rated.

On a good note, the Reds have stormed back from a 6-1 deficit to tie the game 6-6. They are in the bottom of the 8th at Wrigley now.

And what is up with Molina anymore? Why cant he catch a ball on a play at the plate? Has anybody else noticed this? He seems unable to come up with the ball on the throw home. Sometimes its a difficult hop but the play at the plate tonight was right there for him and he missed it.

Whats wrong with him that he cant come up with the throws to home???
