I just watched the highlights from Friday’s game, and the pitch that got Lackey fired up. It was NOT as clear a strike like some have made it out to be. Yes, it probably caught the zone, but it wasn’t exactly right down the middle.
This is the biggest game of the year for the Cardinals.
Our ace and his pretty hair and silly antics at it again.
I wouldn’t mind seeing him sent packing at the end of the year. Tired of his crap.
There’s nothing the Cubs and their fans love more than beating the Cardinals. Especially if it keeps the Redbirds out of any playoff hunt. Odds are greatly stacked against us as far as even winning one game. This has sweep by the Cubs written all over it. Bye bye 2017, hello 2018. And hopefully a hello to Giancarlo Stanton and a welcome back to Alex Reyes.
The biggest series of the season so far begins with this one. Realistically we need at least one of these three. If we get swept its probably bye bye 2017. Its time for people to elevate their game.
And the Indians won their 21st game in a row today. 5-3 over Detroit. Hard to imagine 21 wins in a row.
Brewers still lead 3-1, top of the 9th now. Could they sweep the Cubs? Could the Redbirds and Brewers both only be two games out after today???
Nicasio gives up a leadoff single in the 9th but hangs tough for the save. 4-3 St. Louis the final.
Question……Where was Pham on the inside-the-park homerun by Frazier? The ball bounced back over towards left center and Bader had to come from RF to retrieve it.
Update……Brewers now lead the Cubs 14-0 after seven. I think its safe to say this one is in the Win column for Milwaukee.
Chance to creep within three games of the Cubs tonight. Lets go Ace Martinez.
Update……Brewers plate eight (8) runs against the Cubs in the top of the 3rd. 8-0 Milwaukee heading to the last of the 3rd.
Is this one over? Reds were up 9-0 a couple of weeks ago and the Cubs came back and tied it.
Brewers have jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the Cubs in the top of the 3rd at Wrigley. Grimm on in relief of Montgomery and he promptly balks in a run.
And c’mon Martinez. Lets see that stupid purple hair of yours do something good for us in this game.
Brewers down the Cubs 2-0 at Wrigley. They need at least two of three against the Cubs this weekend to make the games the last week and a half important.
What, not even one post in this thread?
1-0 Cardinals in the top of the 4th.
At least if Stanton was in St. Louis he wouldn’t have to worry about hurricanes like Irma.
Cubs have taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the 9th. Looks like we will need a win to stay four games behind them.
Cubs and Pirates are in a scoreless tie in the last of the 7th at PNC Park. Would be nice for the Pirates to pull off another win and give us the chance to creep to within three games with over three weeks to go.
We got a lineup yet?
The Brewers lost at Cincinnati again today. 7-1 Reds the final. Could we possibly move in front of the Brewers tonight?
And is this Nicasio any good?
For those that didn’t see the game last night and think Cecil got the job done in his one inning stint, here are the facts.
The first batter smashed a double down into the LF corner. The next batter smashed a hard groundball down toward the 3rd base line that Mejia made a good backhanded play and threw the runner out. The next batter smashed a line drive right at Mejia who caught it and fired to Valera to double off the runner at 2nd.
He faced the minimum, but was lucky he didn’t give up three hits.
On a good note, the Cubs lose again at Pittsburgh by the score of 4-3. And Milwaukee trails at Cincinnati by the score of 7-1 late in the game.
We could only be four games out of 1st after tonight, and right on the heels of the Brewers.
Love these late night west coast games for the Cardinals. And the Reds, WhiteSox, and Cubs too. I’ll tape this one tonight for viewing later this winter when I need my baseball fix.
Anxious to see the lineup for tonight. Wonder if Wong will be leading off again?
I agree jager.
And another thing to consider is that it seems to me that to solidify your name as one of the greats of the game means you need a World Series ring. That seems a lot more possible it will happen to him with St. Louis rather than with Miami.
Uh, Carlos, how about quit being ignorant and goofy for a few hours and try your best to give us a good performance on the mound today. You are, or at least were, expected to be our ace. How about a serious approach with some killer instinct instead of silly crazy antics.
I thought it was quite interesting to hear the Cardinal announcers talk about how the new Miami ownership wants to cut payroll. Other articles out there about the same thing.
As Tim and Dan said, would be great to see Stanton in St. Louis for ten years.
The Cardinals do NOT, under any circumstances, need revamped or rebuilt or the house cleaned. They just need two, maybe three key players. Alex Reyes might end up being one of them. Then a late reliever and a big bat and who knows, I can envision 90+ wins in 2018 – easily.
