Speaking of bad baseball……did anybody see the utterly bonehead play that Joey Votto pulled during the Reds game with the Cubs on Sunday afternoon?
Fields a grounder down the line in the last of the 10th and has it in his glove and all he has to do is step on the bag for the 2nd out. He tried to take it out of his glove as he steps on 1stbase and bobbles it. The umps review it and call the runner safe. That loads the bases with one out and the next batter walks to win it for the Cubs.
Chris Welsh even called it bad baseball. Ridiculous play of the year as far as I am concerned.
Okay Mr. Brian Walton, whats the scoop on Molina? Two days in a row not in the starting lineup. This isn’t something serious, is it?
And by the way, my neighbors are the Waltons.
Why is the place so dead?
Redbirds lead 1-0 in the 3rd on a high chopper over Pablo’s head by Carlos Martinez.
Then Pham fouls a ball into the dirt and it bounces up and hits him in the Molina territory.
10-4 good buddies.
La Gigantes go el downo todayo by el scoro of ocho – quatro.
10-4 on that 8-4 score there, Pugs good buddy. Roger that. All we need now is a suicide jockey to bomb one out over the pig pen in RF to get us going.
I’ve said for the last 2-3 years that C.B. Bucknor and Angel Hernandez are the two worst umpires in the game. I still believe that too.
p.s. speaking of C.B, I am having a CB Radio installed in my Ford F150 truck on the 16th.
Cubs lose to the Reds today. 3-2 Cincinnati the final. With a win tonight we would have picked up 1.5 games on the Cubs in the last two days.
Looking forward to tuning in tonight. I’ll have to miss my late Friday night episode of Barnaby Jones, however.
I know Forsch. It was tongue-in-cheek.
I’d even throw in Weaver.
Wong’s defense at 2ndbase pretty much makes it a given that he isn’t going anywhere. He hit .285 last year. We’d be thrilled if he got close to that with his near gold glove defense at 2ndbase.
And I haven’t read through all 33 pages of this thread, but did anybody think about firing Jose Oquendo? As pathetic as some players are on defense he has obviously failed miserably.
I vote that we send Fowler, Martinez, and Holland to Baltimore in exchange for Machado – even if it does turn out to be for a couple of months.
Oh Lord, Martinez back at 1stbase. He may as well shut his eyes when he tries to catch the baseball. He has about as much chance that way.
One good thing about Machado is that he doesn’t strike out quite as much as others. I believe his career strikeout rate is around 18%.
Could St. Louis win him over and he want to resign with us, sort of like McGwire?
Love TO batting 3rd. Shake things up.
And why would you love having someone hitting 3rd that’s striking out about 30% of the time in the minor leagues? This equates to, more than likely, about 40% of the time in the big leagues. The only question is whether O’Neill will strike out once or twice tonight.
Add another item to my list.
#11) When you are down in the last of the 9th by a score of something like 11-3, or whatever, and you hit a double and then you stand on 2ndbase and smile and laugh and make those cute/funny gestures with your hands like you are on top of the world.
On a good note – I guess – the D’Backs are reeling too. They just lost three straight to San Francisco, our next opponent.
Maybe we can sneak into Arizona and win two of three.
I think its a given that Jose Martinez cant play 1stbase anymore. He is just pitiful.
So, what happens then? Martinez goes to RF, Carpenter goes to 1st, and Gyorko becomes the everyday 3rdbaseman. Then that means Bader and Fowler become the 4th and 5th outfielders.

Bumping in hopes I can get an answer here.
It had not happened once since 1959 and now its happened twice in a week. Another Reds pitcher has hit a grand slam. Last week DeSclafani and now Lorenzen. This is Lorenzen’s 3rd homer this year.
And the Cards trail 2-0 in the 2nd.
Every now and then when I try and Reply I get this error message:

Whats up here???
Why isn’t Fowler playing against the right-hander?
Is it scorching hot in St. Louis today? The Weather Channel says heat warnings are in affect all through the Midwest with the heat index well above 100.
Its pretty bad when they have Garcia batting in front of Fowler.
Dexter, why not do something about it?????
There is a huge pile of green stuff all around the St. Louis area as I type this. According to the Doppler radar, that is.
I am expecting a big time delay. Maybe even a postponement. In the meantime I am going to search on CB Radios and see which one might be the best fit for my 2013 Ford F150 truck.
“Breaker 1-9, how about it Pugs, You got your ears on?”
Whats the forecast for game time tonight? The Doppler radar shows a lot of green stuff in the St. Louis area or perhaps headed that way.
Reds pound the Cubs – again. That’s three straight over the Cubs. DeSclafani with a grand slam. The first grand slam by a Reds pitcher since Bob Purkey in 1959.
11) The neighbor kids playing soccer on your front lawn…
I don’t have any sh~tina$$ kids playing soccer on my front lawn.
I bet if you asked Whitey Herzog what he thinks about the points I made he would probably shake his head in agreement. Silly goofy crap is NOT what Cardinal baseball is all about. Let them go to Monday Night Raw if they want to act like goofballs instead of hard-nosed Cardinal baseball players.
