What exactly did Carpenter do in the 9th that almost screwed things up?

On a side note……is Giancarlo Stanton going to hit a homerun in every game the rest of the way? Is that guy on fire or what?

Seriously folks, what are we going to do with Cecil? Its obvious he is only a mopup pitcher at this point so what happens to him?

I assume our lefties from about the 6th inning on now are Duke and Lyons. I expect Cecil will be a mopup guy only from here on out.

Oh, and by the way, the Redbirds won their 7th straight by the score of 8-5. A big two out two run double by DeJong in the 8th made everyone breathe a little easier. He fought off an inside pitch and hit a soft liner over the 1stbaseman’s head, he didn’t exactly smash it.

I mean seriously, what is the reason Cecil isn’t in Memphis? Is there some kind of contractual reason he’s never been sent down? There is no way you even let him in a game unless the Cardinals are either ahead 10-1 in the 9th or behind 10-1 in the 9th.

That WORTHLESS Cecil comes in and gives up hits and a homerun. He allows four runs and now all of a sudden its a 6-5 game in the 6th.

WHY IS CECIL EVEN ON THE TEAM????

    WHY ISNT HE IN MEMPHIS?????

If I know DJ like I think I know DJ (Derek Jeter) he will want to move payroll. And that means we could see Stanton in St. Louis by the end of this month.

Will Matt Adams be in the lineup for the Braves? Assume he will get a nice ovation when he strolls to the plate the first time. Most should remember his homerun off of Kershaw in the 2014 playoffs.

Anxious to see the lineup for tonights game. I do agree with BikeMike’s assessment that DeJong needs to be moved out of the #3 slot. Seems like the league has caught up to him at this point, he seems to keep swinging and missing at low pitches, especially the breaking ones. Hope he doesn’t turn out to be another Grichuk.

For those that missed it…..bases loaded, two outs, Cards down 5-4. A cat runs onto the field and the grounds crew guy grabs it out by the centerfield wall. He gets scratched/clawed a little bit. Next pitch Molina hits a grand slam.

Cubs lose in San Francisco again today, final was 3-1 Giants. Redbirds can get it back to 1.5 games with a win tonight.

Hard to believe that the Redbirds are only 2.5 games out of 1st place. As bad as they have been so far this year. The Cubs continue to be an enigma, having lost again last night, this time to the Giants in San Francisco 6-3. I keep thinking the Cubs are going to get hot and go on a roll and they almost did after the All Star Break. But they are 3-5 in their last 8 games now.

The main reason the Royals got three runs in the 4th was because the 1st base umpire ruled a check swing a ball on a 3-2 pitch with two outs. Molina started to walk off. The next batter then doubles in three runs. Had the ump made the right call – which I believe he went and would have been strike three – the Royals wouldn’t have scored that inning.

Piscotty to Memphis? Should have been done awhile back. Maybe this will send a message to some of the others that aren’t performing.

By the way, how is Diaz doing at Memphis? Last I heard about a month ago he was doing lousy, only hitting about .217.

And Wainwright is up to his bad self to start. Singles by Hamilton and Cozart and then a three run homer by Votto. 3-0 Reds in the 1st, they are still batting, nobody out.

Doesn’t appear to be any rain in Cincinnati at the moment. No tarp on the field either. First pitch just about 5 minutes away.

Lets hope Wainwright can redeem himself from his last start in Cincinnati.

We don’t have a cleanup hitter. Need one very badly. We do have a surplus of hitters that strikeout all the time, however.

And in spite of the homerun last night DeJong is struggling as of late. Not sure why Matheny keeps running a young guy that’s struggling out there in the #3 hole.

Gyorko is lost at the plate nowadays too. Glad to see him get another day off.

Whats the over/under that Scooter Gennett hits four homeruns off of Wainwright today?

And it looks like there might be some rain in the Cincinnati area. Hope this one gets played today, and without major delays.

And, of course, in the 9th Trevor “I’m-a-disaster-waiting-to-happen” Rosenthal makes it interesting by giving up a walk, a single, and then going 3-2 on Peraza before he bounces to short and is out by two whiskers at 1stbase.

    4-1 St. Louis the final.

Wasn’t much of an effort by the Cardinals – again.

Giancarlo Gyorko got a hit last night so now he’s back in the cleanup spot. We would be about as good if we had Tyler Greene in the cleanup spot. He hit a double once, ya know.

And the Cubs down the Nationals today by the score of 7-4. Need a win to stay 4.5 back.

Grichuk strikes out with the bases loaded, two outs, and a 3-2 pitch. He was caught looking on a borderline breaking pitch. His second strikeout of the game.

Anybody want him to in the cleanup slot now??? You’d have to be utterly stupid.
