Not all innings are created equal. Cecil rarely gets into a high leverage situation because neither the former or current manager would trust him in that spot. It is easier to rack up “fair” numbers in mop up situations.

Carp goes from DFA candidate to MVP candidate in less than two months…..ok maybe I’m exaggerating a little but still!

I was being a little sarcastic there jager……the point being that CMart’s value may not be as high as we think it is.

I’m beginning to wonder if we could get Frazier for CMart straight up.

If we could really convince a contender to give us a big haul to take CMart then sign me up. He has never been an ace. He is really a solid number 2 starter and that is ok. Nothing wrong with that but we have overhyped him into something that he isn’t.

Stl25, why don’t you just say what you want to say? Your thinly veiled accusations are obvious.

I don’t think Adams is the kind of player this team needs. We have Carpenter for 1B who’s clearly a far superior player to him. Adams can’t play anywhere else so unless it’s as a pinch hitter, he’s just redundant.

Now, could we use a lefty in the outfield? I think so, just not sure who fits that mold.

Brandon Morrow placed on the 10 Day DL. We won’t have to deal with him this weekend.

I dont think MOlina was in the wrong at all for answering the question…and Shildt would know that too…i see no disrespect…Shildt is afterall an “interim” manager, he and everyone else knows…all he gets is the rest of the season…afetr that is a different conversation, and it isnt wrong for MOlina to answer question about that if he wants… had he said I coudl be player manager NOW…thatd be different

    What question did he answer?

Thanks for the answer Euro. Must be something in the water with all of the babies this year. So far we have had JMart, Fowler, and Mikolas.

I don’t think anyone raised a concern about Mikolas being on the list. I was just curious as to when this rule went into effect.

Yep, probably going to be Dodgers and Cubs in the NLCS for the third year in a row. Go LA.

Having both Adams and JMart on the bench would have been difficult since Adams can only play one position and JMart can’t play any.

    Mr. Hand to Cleveland.

Wow, big get for Cleveland. They will have Hand, Miller, and Allen to close out games. Not bad.

I agree 25 that we should hold out for a big return but that is always going to be somewhat subjective.

Another thing to consider is that if we were to move guys like CMart, Gyroko, and others for cheaper talent it would really open up a lot of payroll space for next year. Yes there will be a few raises for Carp, Wong, etc.. and some arb raises but if you subtract the salaries for Wainwright, Holland, CMart, and others then we would have PLENTY of payroll space to take a shot at a big time FA if we wanted. Maybe we go for an overpay to lure Machado or Harper here. We have all been saying we need a big star to go with all of our complimentary pieces. Could be an opportunity there.

Now Molina comments that he would welcome a player/manager job for himself. Shildt didn’t even break a sweat behind the bench yet. How did that sit with him?

We already know what the FO thinks of Molina.

I’d be interested in hearing what others may think of this. Maybe there is something here or maybe nothing at all.

This was discussed in length in the Molina thread. I thought it was a terrible thing for Molina to bring up and if I was Shildt I wouldn’t have liked it one bit. Most of the other posters thought I was wrong and just taking it out of context.

It is a long ways off but my prediction is Machado signs his FA deal with the Phillies.

Is the paternity list new this year? I don’t ever remember a year with so many players taking paternity leave. It seems to happen to us when we play the Cubs.

Matt Adams was given opportunities to become an everyday player here and he never could seize the job. I don’t blame the team for moving on. Sometimes a change of scenery helps.

I wouldn’t say no to the DeGrom idea but I wouldn’t think that would be our highest priority. We really need some young, elite, position players.

CMart should be able to fetch several young future stars whether it is from the Yanks, Dodgers, or someone else. But we have to be realistic that we probably wouldn’t get much from someone’s MLB roster because they are trying to win the world series this year, however, we should be able to name our price from their farm system though.

Buehler has shown pretty well thus far and was highly regarded in their farm system, Verdugo is currently their number 1 ranked prospect, and Pederson has had a nice bounce back year, so it wouldn’t be a bad haul in my opinion.

That’s fine also. The Dodgers can beat the Cubs in the NLCS again.

Matheny’s winning percentage can’t be denied but we also have to remember that he walked into a pretty good situation. Granted that Pujols left but he still inherited a team that just won the world series. Most first time managers inherit a train wreck of a team in which their winning percentage is going to be much different.

As was mentioned in the buyers/sellers thread if CMart were really made available there would be many teams other than the Yanks interested. The Dodgers could use him and could use a bridge to Jansen.

What about CMart and Norris to the Dodgers for Buehler and Verdugo? Maybe they could throw in Joc Pederson too.

Sometimes it is necessary when they are clogging the system and blocking better and cheaper players from getting on the field.
