Not worried about an unhappy Pham. He seems like the typ3 that plays best with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove.
While not a back breaker, this contract makes little sense to me strictly from a financial standpoint. Unless you are really confident he will be a super 2 arb guy, if he stays around a 3 WAR player he is probably in line for about a total of $24 million over those 6 year (yr 1-3 $2.5mm, yr 4 $4.2mm, yr 5 $6.5mm, and yr 6 $10mm). So the pre-arg/arb years have negative value. That means the value is all in the option years. For giving a player that amount of security the team should get a much bigger discount than that.
I dont think it is a big deal but I also would consider it abnormal. This is a guy Mo has indicated has a strong chance to be in the majors this year. That normally merits a longer look.
Hicks will remember losing out on that major league Spring training per diem money!
This only has validity as it relates to whatever was resolved in the case eith the Marlins a few years back. But even that I wonder if it has even precedent since we they have signed a new CBA since then.
I have already taken Schafer off my Memphis bullpen list and put him on the Springfield list.
One of the PD articles quoted somebody (Mo?) saying Mayers will probably be starting at AAA?
Flaherty
Hudson
Gant
Gomber
MayersNot sure where that puts Helsley. Gant to the pen?
Why aren’t the same people saying Miles isnt going to cut it not saying Mayers will win the Cy Young?
BHC, those are not indicators he has peaked. They have nothing to do with his performance. Thay is oy an indicator that on average a player peaks at that age.
Interesting that Garcia started in center over botb Arozarena snd Bader.
There is a MLB rule that states teams must have 4 regulars in the lineup for ST road games. That can include your closer. In this case, they are Martinez, Norris (closer – a liberal interpretation initself), Dejong, and ????
That lineup card really takes a lot of liberties to get to the 4 regular starters minimum for a ST road game.
If Colby is recovered from his hip injury, no reason to think he has peaked. Last year before his injury he was having his best offensive year ever.
I obviously failed the class on linking

They give 16 of the prospects an ETA of 2018 and another 7 2019. Roster space anyone?
Also of note, they give Reyes a 75 rating on his fastball. Very rare.
Fat Ozuna is a topic over at the PD’s Cards Talk site. Complete with several pics. And he does look like he has a significant belly in the pics. I’ll see if I can link something later.
The lack of pitchers with minor league options is going to be a problem this year as well.
How fat did he report to camp?
I’m not sure what you mean by “he is what he is”. Are you referring to.his mental state? His baseball abilities? In any case, production wise what he is is pretty good. He had a 1.2 bwar in 121 ab’s last year. That is nearly a 4.8 WAR pace for 500 ab’s. Give me that on a minor league deal anyday.
There are pudgy pics of Ozuna going around as well. Do we downgrade him as well?
If Rasmus has his head on straight he would be a great deal for any team on a minor league contract.
February 21, 2018 at 11:12 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #44419Brian, this is the only thread where clicking on the latest post doesnt take you to the latest post – can that be fixed?
Colome and even more so Archer will bring just as much or more at the trade deadline.
Keep Bowman down for 20+ days and it delays his free agency by a year – not that I think he will have a functioning arm by the time he reaches that point.
