Well, it’s just slipped past midnight my time and I’m about to slip into the feathers with the hope I’ll awaken to the sweet news that our birds live to fight at least one more day.
Rah Cardinals!
October 8, 2022 at 3:03 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 2 thread – Saturday, October 8 vs. Phillies #203817It looks strikingly similar to the one that ran out of gas yesterday.
October 8, 2022 at 1:57 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 2 thread – Saturday, October 8 vs. Phillies #203808I used to be a big fan of Shakey’s Pizza, but they seem to have disappeared. Did they get eaten up by another outfit?
October 8, 2022 at 1:26 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 2 thread – Saturday, October 8 vs. Phillies #203803In the run-up to this decisive game I am digesting two bowls of Armenian meatball soup and a small Caesar salad. Dessert TBA. Rah Cardinals!
October 8, 2022 at 11:34 am in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 2 thread – Saturday, October 8 vs. Phillies #203796Let’s see, if Mikolas can throw a no-hitter through five, perhaps we can wait until the bottom of the sixth before we yank him. And perhaps we can throw all the player names into a hat and have Alexa Datt draw the lineup.

One game away from the end of the 2022 season.

October 7, 2022 at 4:09 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203688The wheels have come off pretty quickly. Can anybody fix it?
October 7, 2022 at 3:28 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203656Finally! A Cardinal potato!
October 7, 2022 at 3:04 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203634Still no evidence of an offense.
October 7, 2022 at 1:47 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203576mlbtv has decided that Cardinal fans outside the United States don’t need a live stream. Zut! Consequently I am saddled with Gameday, which is no fun at all.
October 6, 2022 at 4:42 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203474My gut tells me this series depends more on how badly the Phillies play than how well the Cardinals do. The offense has been largely absent in recent weeks with little indication that is about to change any time soon. Please, oh please let me be wrong!
Rah Cardinals!October 5, 2022 at 4:29 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 162 thread – Wednesday, October 5 at Bucs #203367Holy cow! I leave y’all for 10 minutes with a 3-1 lead and take Ozzy out for a pee, come back to a 5-3 deficit. Not good guys!
October 5, 2022 at 3:01 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 162 thread – Wednesday, October 5 at Bucs #203351What the hell is this goofy lineup? I guess Goldy must still be exhausted from all the heavy hitting he’s been doing lately. Two hits last night launched PDJ back into favor. Better extend him again. Why not just forfeit the game and take everybody out for a coupla beers, it’s a no-counter anyway.
October 4, 2022 at 6:47 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 161 thread – Tuesday, October 4 at Bucs #203279And the rain keeps falling – 6-3 and counting. It’s getting close to 2 a.m. and ol’ CiF is heading for the feathers.
October 4, 2022 at 6:18 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 161 thread – Tuesday, October 4 at Bucs #203277OK guys, don’t stop now.
October 4, 2022 at 1:31 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 161 thread – Tuesday, October 4 at Bucs #203242This entire offense has got to wake up and start scoring some serious runs or this is going to be a brief post-season. We can barely hold our own with these lowly Pirates. Wait until the big guys come to town. Gosh, I’m starting to sound like Rats.
October 3, 2022 at 6:34 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 160 thread – Monday, October 3 at Bucs #203159Yepez not impressing anybody with the stick tonight.
October 2, 2022 at 4:24 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 159 thread – Sunday, October 2 vs. Bucs #203033If I have to listen to one more Brad Thompson/Danny Mac memory I think I’ll puke, so I’ll be off to bed.
October 2, 2022 at 3:01 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 159 thread – Sunday, October 2 vs. Bucs #203021Who’s that guy wearing de Jong’s uniform?
September 30, 2022 at 11:46 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 157 thread – Friday, September 30 vs. Bucs #202852I don’t want to be the “end of season” Rat pessimist, but I can’t escape this feeling in my gut that our offense has simply run out of gas. We’ll need more than the occasional Pujols potato to come away with a world series championship, as much as that would inject great joy into my golden years.
But Rah Cardinals nonetheless!
September 28, 2022 at 2:16 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 155 thread – Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Brewers #202709The best post-season game I ever attended was game 6 of the 1993 World Series. With the Blue Jays trailing the Phillies 6-5 Joe Carter hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 9th to walk off the series. I seem to recall it was only the second time in history the series was won with a walk-off potato after Mazeroski did it for the Pirates in 1960. Actually I saw all of the Blue Jays WS home games in 92 and 93 as I was working in Toronto at the time and had temporarily given my allegiance to birds of a different color.
Well, thank goodness Ollie has a “thought process.”
I’m a little weak on medical knowledge, but it doesn’t seem logical to treat an overworked arm by continuing to overwork it. When I’m overworked and/or fatigued I find it quite useful to have a rest.
September 25, 2022 at 5:02 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 154 thread – Sunday, Sept. 25 at Dodgers #202365This game is becoming painful to watch. We need to do some serious woodwork, and fast.
