Regarding that play at HP, I don’t like that scoop and toss with the mitt move unless it’s absolutely neccessary and it looked like there was plenty of time to get the force out without resorting to that glove toss being up high enough to pull the C’s foot off the plate.

It’s a big problem…The hoodies are costing us W’s. The baseball gypsies don’t like it…

Lifted his foot off HP. What else can go wrong?

I’m aware that I’m now descending to splitting hairs, but I’m real weary of seeing the Cardinal manager walk out to the pitcher’s mound wearing a hoodie…I wish he’d walk out there wearing the uniform. The Cardinals not only have one of the best looking Big League jerseys in either league, but they also used to issue some nice looking jackets. At any rate, if he’s going to wear a hoodie out there, I wish he’d pull the thing up over his head when he walks out onto the field…

Yeah, Euro, there almost ought to be a scoring rule to negate that run being charged to Matz.

COL’s doing a pretty nice nice job on the base paths tonight. These guys are being aggressive and forcing the Redbirds to execute which has yet to happen.

Burly needs the O2 tank after that RBI triple.

That run crossing HP wasn’t easy to watch.

Don’t know exactly why, but every time I see Blackmon step into the box I think of J.D. Blackfoot…

Yeah Bikemike, quick 3 outs for Marquez. If you took a bite of your $20 hot dog that last half inning, you probably missed it…Haha!

I counted a 5 pitch half inning for Marquez. Don’t see many of those anymore.

While the OF certainly hasn’t looked good, I don’t think it’s been what could be termed lousy. I think the situation is relative in the sense that we’re accustomed to seeing some consistently nice play in the OF. A couple of comments have pointed out that it should stabilize once The Nootz returns. I hope so, anyway.

Run production’s important and I think Walker in the 2 slot will create run production. And yeah, he’s 20. I’d sure trade places with him. In so far as development, he’s past the development stage. The stage he’s performing on now is the Big Leagues. I think he’ll improve his performance in the Big Leagues while slotted in front of last season’s NL MVP winner. I think Walker has talent. I also think pressure won’t bother him. In fact, I think the talent will really come to life under pressure. It always does when it’s applied to outstanding players. Let him rip…

Pressure is what it’s all about. Pressure is what incites performance. If you can’t play under pressure, light some candles, take a hot bubble bath and engage in some aroma therapy…

From what I’ve seen out of him so far, I think Walker would be ideal for the 2 slot with Goldy looming. They probably don’t want to move him up in the order too quickly due to silly ideas about placing pressure on the rookie. Is so, that’s nonsense. He’s responding just fine to the Big Leagues. Place him in the 2 slot and if it doesn’t work out, move him back down to 7 or 8.

Matz has had a tendency to allow the baseball to leave the playing field since he’s been a Cardinal. He won’t find any bargains in the venue in which he’ll be working tonight. He’s got to find a way to keep the baseball in play.

Nado got the light duty yesterday and today Goldy gets a day at DH. I could be wrong, but it seems like Eddie is the only player on this team to have played every inning in the field thus far.

He’s inching his way up the order, but I’d swap Walker with Burleson. Has Burly been placed anywhere else in the order other than the 2 slot this season?

I’d say that a relatively focused mind’s eye has the ability to imagine a picture that’s near to the genuine reality. Especially when monkeys enter the picture…Haha!

Someone brought up the possibility of the Redbird manager being placed in the soup line before season’s end if his team were continue to perform in a manner that would place them at around 10 games under at the break. I don’t know about that, but I will say that in my view, the fact that he managed his team to a NLC title last season no longer carries any weight. Moreover, once the ’22 regular season came to a close, he’s featured several instances of decisions and judgments that could very well be termed as lousy. I’d have to guess that if he continues down the path that leads to inane line-up construction, lack of observation while a pitcher struggles, and puzzling in game decisions which don’t even resemble something that could mildly be termed as nonsense, he might find himself managing a collection of players who have little or no confidence in his abilities to see to it that this roster is manipulated in a manner that places this team in a position to consistently play well and win ballgames. If that happens and this manager’s boss clearly sees that’s the case, he’s in trouble.

The Tampa team’s now 9-0. The Braves in ’82 and Brewers in ’87 share the record for consecutive W’s to start a season at 13. Brewers missed the post-season in ’87 and the Braves barely held on in ’82 to win the NLW by 1 game over the Dodgers. In any case, the Rays at 9-0 ain’t too shabby. I’d sure trade places.

Over the winter and well into ST, I thought Knizner would be a sufficient #2 catcher. He’s well on his way to proving me way wrong.

What sort of indication is transmitted to a very good everyday ballplayer by his field manager when he’s called back from a PA in a key hitting situation for the purpose of inserting a PH’er in his place who is a player who by the very skin of his teeth was barely able to obtain a spot on the roster? If I answer my own question, BW will revoke my privelage of commenting on this web-site, so it’d be in my own best interest to allow everyone else to formulate their own conclusions…
