Not true Carter. They both could absolutely rake and place the ball basically where they wanted. Very few guys today can come close to that. Both played hard, played to win, and gave all for their teams. Both also going by accounts weren’t and aren’t really good people. So lots of similarities. Cobb was all round the better player cause I consider Cobb easily in top ten all time but rose was still a great player. I’m not a reds fan but I am a fan of great baseball.

Oh you can’t deny rose, Morgan, and bench were really good. Bench was one of those guys who retired fairly young but a great catcher. Morgan was never flashy but he was consistent in his greatness. I liked him and miller announcing too. Rose was just a consumate hitter and played the game the way I think it should be played. He was like cobb in that regard.

Glad to have jimmy ballgame back. For me he just gives out far more interesting info. Ah Albert just hit one and set another record in doing so. On the way to 700.

You know it’s kind of interesting about the reds. Since Larussa became our coach, we have predominantly owned them even in seasons where they were decent. I’m sure there have been a few seasons where it was competitive but not many. Sometimes early on we have some good even contest but usually by now, we are pretty much owning them. They seem to get good players but for some reason they just don’t get it done. It’s easy to own the pirates because they are bad organization but the reds seem to have decent ownership.

Well our big guys make all the outs that inning. Nice to see other guys stepping up

I see no reason why we can’t just blow this game open right here be on our way
Well just as I was talking edman drives in two.

Well hard fought win. That’s the braves only weakness, using Jansen..I never liked him with the dodgers, definitely wouldn’t want him on our team. I consider him a lot like isringhausen. He’s just as likely to blow a game as save it. But as long as he’s pitching against us, I feel we have a chance.

Don’t have any problem pointing out dejongs strikeouts, I agree he’s horrible. Should be moved after season some way. But at least he seldom makes an error. So in a close game, hes invaluable. Now if they want to start Gorman and sub dejong late, could be an answer. I don’t like it cause an error can hurt you just as much early as later and I’m not high on Gorman as a lot of you are but like I said, situational playing might work better for you. Now if you don’t care if the team wins anything this year, them we can just play Gorman and play for next year.

Dejong is not great defensively. That’s one of the craziest things I’ve heard on here. Yea he’s no ozzie smith but no one outside of bonus wagner can compare to him. Yes dejong is really good at shortstop defensively. Compared to gorman, he’s a defensive god

Bling you are right particular about nootbar. I had a feeling that pujols was going to be better than lots thought. Though you could look at that stat and say that other guys have disappointed.

I don’t agree, not even close in my eyes. Atlanta won the world series last year and this roster is better than last year’s. The Cardinals are really inconsistent. Sure we got hot here recently but mostly against below 500 teams. Yea we beat the yanks but they were missing guys and they went on a terrible losing period at that time. We’ve struggled all season against good teams. Who are you going to play in the post season. Good teams. Outside of goldy, arenado, and Donovan, find me some consistent guys on this roster. Far as our pitching. Our bullpen has struggled lately. Our starting pitching has been inconsistent at times over all. Sure they have had some great games but I stress consistency hasn’t been there. Potential is there but potential doesn’t win championships. Even our defense has been shaky at times. Are we a good team, yes we are. But at this time unless things change a lot, we have long odds at going deep in playoffs. Is anything possible yes but I wouldn’t stake my life’s fortune on it.

Losing a game or even all games to maybe the best team in baseball isn’t the end of the world. As a total roster we aren’t as good as the braves or some other teams. Are we good enough to beat them here or there , yea but overall we aren’t there. We could maybe even with good fortune beat them in a series, maybe but it isn’t a big surprise if they beat us. Talent more often than not wins over the hope the front office always goes for. Also people talk about it’s good dejong isn’t in there. Well if he’s not in there, we have Gorman out there messing around at second base. Just remember it was his error that got their scoring started yesterday. I believe at the end of the day, better defense will sustain you vs a superior team as opposed to better offense and with how much Gorman strikes out, it’s not much better.

Well tonight we are just being beaten by a better team at least on this day. Get em tomorrow.

Well didn’t get to watch live but watched on replay, fast replay. Goldy had a great day, same with Dickerson. I didn’t like his signing but he’s been great this second half. Donovan solid as usual. Pitching was mostly solid. 3 out of 5, could have been better but I guess could have been worse. Need to be on our best now with us playing the braves. A really good team so I guess we will see how we stack up.

This game has turned bad. Time to turn in. Had a rough day at work. My company is finding new ways to work people to death. Hopefully Cardinals pull it out tomorrow though Hudson and our shaky offense doesn’t give me confidence. Losing 3 out of five to these losers would really be sorry.

Well another mikolas start, another no show by our offense. Mikolas shouldn’t have to shut out the cubs for us to win. Just pitiful.

I find it hilarious all the people complaining about helsley still being on paternity leave. A good husband and father should be allowed to be there to help his wife and spend time bonding with his kid. Those moments are fleeting and you never get them back. This isn’t the 1950s Sure some things have changed that may not be for the best but some things needed to change. I bet if you ask his team mates, all them have helsleys back. It’s a team game, someone else steps up.

Good win. Slightly makes up for losing earlier. Pitching overall was good. Let’s win the series tomorrow.

We have missed some chances to really open things up, need to get it done this inning.

Well Wooster, that may be that he was tiring. But he uses the high part of the strike zone a lot anyway. I also felt he could have gotten out of it. You noticed marmol let liberatore stay in and give up the two extra runs. Which goes against the eye test and numbers all around. I for sure trust woody more than liberatore at this time. Libby may work into a good pitcher but right now I have more faith in woody getting out of the inning he was in a lot more than I trust liberatore.

Well I kind of thought they should let woody finish the inning but our guys are kind of rested. Stratton did a nice job finishing the inning off. So Woodford gives up 1 in five n a third. About what his numbers suggest which is good pitching. He may not blow your socks off but he gives the team a chance to win his games. To me that’s a pitcher. Hopefully this isn’t some one off but I don’t know. Management just seems to always be looking for shinier things when they already have a diamond.

Goldy has suddenly kind of cooled off. Could just be a bad night. Just hasn’t looked great at the plate.

Donovan has been our unsung mvp this year in my opinion. Solid hitter, can play lots of places. When we were having lots of injuries, he really solidified things.

Well I was going to talk about edmans numbers kind of free falling but then he decides to put one over the fence. Nice job, tommy.

Well great inning there, probably should have had another run. Hopefully that doesn’t come back to haunt us. Hopefully Jake can throw a few more shutout innings though Jake usually gives up a couple runs which would still be great if he can get us through 6 innings.
