Collectively, the St. Louis Cardinals farm system is having problems consistently winning games, but at least two offensive performers are red hot.

Minor League Baseball announced on Monday that two Cardinals prospects are their respective league Players of the Week for the period of June 7-13.

Springfield Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman is the honoree for the Double-A Central League and Palm Beach Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn has the corresponding honors for the Class-A Southeast League.

Ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the system by The Cardinal Nation, Gorman, 21, blasted seven home runs over six games. The 21-year-old went 9-for-26 with nine runs scored, 12 RBI and two walks. His slash line was .346/.393/1.154/1.597.

Gorman’s three-home-run outburst on Saturday, June 12 was the first in Springfield Cardinals regular season history.

Gorman was selected by St. Louis in the first round (19th overall) in the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Two years later, Winn was the Cardinals’ second round pick, 54th overall.

This last week, the 19-year-old shortstop hit two home runs, drove in 14 and slashed .360/.419/.720/1.139 all on the road at the St. Lucie Mets. His highlight was a seven-RBI performance on Sunday, June 13.

Winn, Palm Beach’s leadoff man, is currently The Cardinal Nation’s sixth-ranked prospect.
