The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-5 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach RHP Jefferson Moran, pitched five scoreless innings on just three hits for the win in his Single-A debut. Other standouts: Brandt Thompson, Brayden Smith, Trevor Haskins, Alexander Frias, Yadiel Batista, Matthew Miura and Rayner Reyes.

Memphis Redbirds 1 at Durham Bulls 4
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds lost a close contest to the Bulls in Durham on Saturday.
Starter Ixan Henderson was a late scratch so Brandt Thompson started his sixth game in his 11th appearance for Memphis. The right-hander pitched five innings and allowed one run on four hits, one walk, and eight strikeouts.
Ryan Fernandez threw a shutout sixth in relief of Thompson. Skylar Hales yielded two runs and recorded just one out, taking the loss. Jared Shuster gave up an insurance run over 1 ⅔ frames.
Memphis opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Victor Scott II hit a lead-off double and scored on a two-out single from Leo Bernal.

The Bulls tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Memphis looked to grab the lead in the seventh. With two outs, Colton Ledbetter doubled and stole third. Chase Davis walked but Brody Moore struck out to leave both on base.
Durham scored twice in the home seventh and once in the eighth to move ahead 4-1. Memphis was unable to answer.
The Redbirds scored one run on three hits. Bernal singled and drove in the team’s only run. Scott II doubled and scored a run. Ledbetter logged a double.
On the bases, Ledbetter swiped his 20th bag of the year. Moore was caught stealing second base.
The Redbirds did not commit an error.
Memphis is 20-25 in the second half and 66-53 overall. They will look to secure the series win on Sunday.
Sunday’s game: at Durham. LHP Cooper Hjerpe (0-1, 3.48) vs. RHP Mason Englert (0-5, 5.81) 4:05 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals 0, Northwest Arkansas Naturals 3
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were blanked on just two hits by the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Route 66 Stadium on Saturday.
Daniel Eagen started his first game in front of the home crowd for Springfield. The right-hander threw six innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits, one walk, and four strikeouts. Despite the quality start, Eagen took the loss.

Nolan Sparks, Michael Watson, and Darlin Saladin each threw one scoreless, no-hit inning in relief of Eagen to finish the game.
The Naturals scored two runs in the top of the second inning and added a run in the third to take a 3-0 lead.
The Cardinals were no-hit until the seventh, when Jack Gurevitch lined a single. Ryan Campos was hit by a pitch to bring the tying run to the plate, though no runners came home.
The Cardinals left seven runners on base and went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the tough loss.
Springfield scored no runs on two hits, singles by Gurevitch and Dakota Harris. Won-Bin Cho, Zach Levenson, Ryan Campos, and Harris each drew a walk. The lineup struck out 15 times as Josiah Ragsdale, Jesus Baez and Tre Richardson all went 0-for-4 with three Ks.
On the bases, Harris stole his 28th bag.
On defense, center fielder Ragsdale committed a fielding error. Catcher Campos was tagged with a passed ball.
Springfield is 27-17 in the second half and 58-54 overall. They will look to take four of six from the Naturals with a win on Sunday.

Peoria Chiefs 2, Beloit Sky Carp 3 (Game one, 7 innings)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs dropped a tight first game of Saturday’s doubleheader at Dozer Park.
Brandon Clarke started for Peoria. The left-hander tossed 3 ⅔ innings and allowed one run on one hit, one walk, and three strikeouts, including retiring the first nine batters faced.

Nelfy Ynfante yielded a run over 1 ⅓ innings in relief of Clarke. Zeke Wood gave up a run in the sixth and took the loss. Patrick Galle threw a shutout seventh.
Peoria struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Andrew Williamson led off with his first professional hit, a single, and moved to third on a Brayden Smith single. Sammy Hernandez brought Williamson home via a sacrifice fly.

The Chiefs doubled the lead in the bottom of the third. Smith walked, stole second base and took third on the play due to a throwing error. Hernandez walked. Caden Ferraro grounded into a forceout, with Smith home for a 2-0 Peoria lead. The run marked Ferraro’s first career RBI.
The Sky Carp scored single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to move ahead 3-2. The Chiefs were unable to strike back in the close loss.
The Chiefs scored two runs on six hits, all singles. Smith was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Hernandez walked and logged an RBI. Ferraro collected a hit and an RBI. Williamson tallied a hit and a run scored.
On the basepaths, Smith stole his second bag with Peoria.
The Chiefs did not commit an error.
Peoria Chiefs 1, Beloit Sky Carp 2 (Game two, 7 innings)
The Peoria Chiefs lost another nail-biter in the nightcap of Saturday’s doubleheader at Dozer Park. This was the makeup of Friday’s postponement.
Jacob Odle made his 12th start for the Chiefs. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed two runs on three hits, four walks, and four strikeouts. Odle took the loss.
Gerardo Salas struck out two across two scoreless, no-hit innings. Christian Worley struck out the side in the seventh.
The Chiefs began the scoring with a run in the bottom of the third inning. Ryan Weingartner and Andrew Williamson walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Brayden Smith took a third consecutive walk to load the bags. Weingartner crossed home plate on a Caden Ferraro sacrifice fly, though a forceout and a groundout ended the rally.
Beloit scored twice in the fourth to move in front 2-1. The Chiefs were unable to respond as they left six runners on base and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Peoria scored one run on just one hit, a Yordalin Peña double. Weingartner, Williamson, Smith, and Alex Birge walked. Smith scored a run.
On the bases, Peña stole his first two bags with Peoria. Ian Petrutz recorded his seventh steal but was caught stealing third base. Smith was caught stealing second base.
On defense, Ferraro threw a runner out at third base from left field.
Peoria is 23-23 in the second half and 55-57 overall. They will look to split the series with a win on Sunday.
Sunday’s game: vs. Beloit. RHP Nate Dohm (2-4, 6.41) vs RHP Julio Mendez (1-1, 5.51), 2:05 PM CT.
Palm Beach Cardinals 4 at Daytona Tortugas 1
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals edged the Daytona Tortugas in Saturday’s road contest.
Jefferson Moran started in his Palm Beach debut. The right-hander fired five scoreless innings, tying his career-high, on three hits, one walk, and two strikeouts. Moran picked up his first Single-A win.
Yadiel Batista allowed a run over three innings of relief. Jesús García tossed a scoreless ninth to secure his third save with Palm Beach.
The Cardinals scored the inaugural run of the game in the top of the third inning as Trevor Haskins launched his 12th home run of the year, a solo shot.
Palm Beach doubled the lead in the fourth. Alexander Frias crushed his first home run with the Cardinals, his ninth of 2026 overall, for a 2-0 lead.
The Cardinals added a run in the sixth. Sebastian Dos Santos drew a one-out walk and stole second base with two outs. Miguel Hernández walked. Matthew Miura connected for a double to score Dos Santos and extend the lead to 3-0.
Daytona finally scored a run in the home seventh but the Cardinals took the run back in the eighth.
Ryan Mitchell walked, Dos Santos singled, and Frias walked to load the bases with no outs. Miura brought Mitchell home on a sacrifice fly for a 4-1 Cardinals lead.
Batista induced an inning-ending double play in the bottom of the eighth to escape a bases-loaded jam as Daytona was held to just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position in the Palm Beach win.
The Cardinals scored four runs on eight hits. Miura was 2-for-3, both doubles and two RBI. Haskins went 2-for-3 with a home run. Frias walked and hit a solo home run. Dos Santos was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Heriberto Caraballo logged a triple, the second of his career and his first since 2023.
On the bases, Dos Santos swiped his 16th bag of the year with Palm Beach and was caught stealing second. Frias stole his fourth bag with the team. Caraballo was picked off third base.
On defense, Frias nailed a runner at home plate from right field. The Cardinals turned four double plays.
Palm Beach is 23-24 in the second half and 56-57 overall. They will look to take the series finale on Sunday.
Sunday’s game: at Daytona. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 PM CT.
DSL Cardinals 2, DSL Angels 7 (7 innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals lost Saturday’s home contest to the DSL Angels.
Emilio Jiménez made his sixth start in his 11th game for the Cardinals. The left-hander pitched two innings and allowed five runs on three hits, six walks, and four strikeouts, taking the loss.
Kriscol Peralta struck out five and yielded two runs, one earned, across two innings. Rayner Reyes finished the game with three scoreless innings and a pair of strikeouts.
The DSL Angels scored three runs apiece in the second and third innings and added a run in the fourth to jump out to a 7-0 lead.
The Cardinals chipped into the gap with a two-run fifth. Héctor Cabrera was hit by a pitch and Michael Cordero walked and they moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Jhonny Chaparro walked to load the bases. Jhon Franganten was hit by a pitch to force Cabrera home. Diego Conseción deposited a single into center field to score Cordero for a 7-2 score. Back-to-back strikeouts left the bases loaded to cut the rally short.
The Cardinals left eight runners on base in the loss.
The DSL Cardinals scored two runs on four hits, all singles. Conseción walked, collected a hit, and drove in a run. Franganten tallied a hit and an RBI. Misael Sánchez went 2-for-4.
The Cardinals did not steal a base.
On defense, first baseman Chaparro committed a fielding error. Pitcher Jiménez picked a runner off first base.
The DSL Cardinals are 26-26 on the season. They are off Sunday and will play a road contest with the DSL Mets Blue on Monday.
