2011 Season
Valera was promoted to Johnson City from the Gulf Coast League at the start of August and provided instant offense. Worked into the lineup anywhere possible, including the outfield, the 19-year-old batted .397 in 73 at-bats. His .311 combined average was fifth-best in the system.

2010 Season
Ranked 6th in the VSL in batting average (.325), 5th in hits (69), 4th in slugging percentage (.472), 3rd in extra-base hits (23) and second in triples (6). His batting average topped all Cardinals minor leaguers and he finished in the system-wide top 10 in triples (T2nd, 6), slugging percentage (T9th, .472), on-base percentage (7th, .402) and on-base plus slugging (5th, .873).
