On Tuesday, the Arizona Fall League announced that St. Louis Cardinals catching prospect Andrew Knizner is the league’s Player of the Week for the period of October 16-22.
The Surprise Saguaros catcher-first baseman is batting .393 overall, including hits in each of his seven games. Last week, Knizner had 17 at-bats over four contests with eight hits (.471), including two home runs and five RBI.
In addition to two 1-for-4 games, the 22-year-old had a 4-for-5 performance including a double on Tuesday and a two-homer outing on Friday.
Knizner is The Cardinal Nation’s 19th-ranked prospect and was named TCN’s 2017 Player of Year across the entire Cardinals minor league system after starring for the Double-A Springfield Cardinals and Class-A Peoria Chiefs.
