GCL Cards off
DSL Cards vs. AngelsJuly 22, 2017 at 10:11 am #28305Palm Beach game notes listed Woodford today. If he is coming off of DL gives PB 6 starters. If AAA fills Gonazles turn from AA and not their own bullpen, this could be opening for Helsley to AA.
July 22, 2017 at 10:27 am #28309Yes, Woodford was activated off the DL yesterday and Helsley was not listed on the upcoming probables. This could also be his turn to be skipped for rest, though. Do keep in mind, Arturo Reyes is back with Memphis.
July 22, 2017 at 12:38 pm #28321Yes assume it would be Reyes for AAA Sunday if no other moves are made today. Do not recall him being stretched out much in his rehab starts. Might be almost like a bullpen start if he does go.
July 23, 2017 at 6:10 am #28375July 23, 2017 at 8:32 am #28377Hudson has semi quietly been very very good.
July 23, 2017 at 8:40 am #28378Agree. He’s currently leading the league in ERA. Now, some of that might be the graduation of guys like Flaherty and others to AAA but still pretty good. He looks like a ground ball machine. Would definitely like to see a few more strikeouts but I suspect those will come.
July 23, 2017 at 8:52 am #28379In quite a few other organizations when a 22 year old college pitcher tears up aa to that extent with his stuff — in a hitters park at that — they’d be a top 50 prospect.
He is a cardinal so he will be lucky to break top 100.
Too cynical? Lol
July 23, 2017 at 10:16 am #28380Plummer has slowly gained traction again at Peoria, slashing .260/.393/.360 since the start of this month. Also, hit his 4th home run last night.
July 23, 2017 at 11:10 am #2838114NyquisTParticipantWith all due respect to Hudson (big fan)…. Brady Whalen had a super day for Johnson City in a 9-8 win over Danville. Whalen was 3-4, (2) 2b, BB and 5 RBIs. Brady has been struggling defensively and with the bat (.190). In his 2nd pro season he’s young at 19 y.o. and at 6’4″ he’s been playing 3B for the Mountain Cards. Here’s hoping that his big offensive might set a fire under him.
July 23, 2017 at 11:29 am #28382bccranParticipantThe Cards coaches were very impressed with Hudson’s 95mph sinking fastball at Spring Training. He’s a talent. Would like to keep Martinez, Reyes, Weaver, Flaherty, and Hudson. Others can be trade chips.
July 23, 2017 at 12:21 pm #2838514NyquisTParticipantI agree with those…. they’re our near future rotation guys. We have to see how Reyes is, coming off his surgery. Do we have the power-armed Alex or something else?
I’d also like to keep Gallen, Hicks and Helsley as the next wave.
O’Neill hasn’t been placed at Memphis as of yet. They’ll need to make a roster move to open a spot.
July 23, 2017 at 2:12 pm #28392Memphis roster move, Huffman assigned to state college assume he never reports just a roster holding area until they can work out a move for him to land in AAA.
