The St. Louis Cardinals have signed their 25th free agent of the current international signing period, which began July 2nd, 2018. The newest recruit is right-handed pitcher William Miranda, who signed a minor league contract, reported on March 1.
The 18-year old hails from Cartagena, Colombia and is 6-foot-1, 170 pounds. Which of the Cardinals’ two Dominican Summer League to which Miranda will be assigned will be disclosed in late May.

Of the 25, 21 will be suiting up as professionals for the first time in 2019. Miranda is the 13th pitcher, with the other eight position players.
In an interview with El Universal in his native Colombia, Miranda discusses his conversion from the outfield and when the Cardinals began scouting him. He notes of his four pitches – fastball, change up, sinker and slider – the latter is his most effective off-speed offering.
