Reaching as many as 40 games over .500 during the 4-3 week, the Memphis Redbirds hit franchise bests in record through 125 games and largest division lead. They also hold a franchise best 3.60 ERA and its best fielding percentage. Stephen Piscotty has been on fire since joining the Redbirds.
Now 38 games above .500, the 78-40 Memphis Redbirds are still red hot as indicated by a 6-2 week. The pitching staff continued to control games, holding opponents to two or less runs in five of the six wins. Breyvic Valera is the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week.
The Memphis Redbirds are one of just four teams in Minor League Baseball with 72 or more wins and lead Triple A with a 72-38 record. Even with a number of hitters in St. Louis, Redbirds Tyler O’Neill and Breyvic Valera kept the runs coming in the 4-3 week.
Though the names have been rapidly changing, the results remain the same. The Memphis Redbirds just keep on winning. Even though starters Marco Gonzales and Luke Weaver are gone, Jack Flaherty and Matt Pearce are among those helping to pick up the slack.
A week started by a four game win-streak ended 5-2 and extended the Memphis Redbirds’ league-leading record. At 62-35, Memphis has three more wins than the next closest team in the PCL. The solid week ended with the call-up of Carson Kelly and Zach Duke plus Marco Gonzales was traded.
With the middle of the week reserved for the Triple-A All-Star Game and associated events, Memphis played just four games this week. They finished 3-1 while winning the last three, with Breyvic Valera twice the hero. The pitching was stellar, limiting opponents to three or fewer runs in each game.
Memphis is now tied for the best record in the Pacific Coast League after a 6-1 week. Harrison Bader is red-hot, homering in three straight games, and the bullpen performed well despite several starters being pulled early and one night, skipped entirely.
A busy week of roster moves brought both new and familiar faces to the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds during the 4-3 week. Luke Weaver and Marco Gonzales continue to top the rotation.
